Sarawak Leads The Way With Launch Of “Vision With Action” Biodiversity Policy And Plan
KUCHING, 22 April 2025 – Sarawak has once again made a historic leap in environmental leadership with the official launch of the “Vision With Action” for Biodiversity Policy and Plan, a groundbreaking initiative to preserve and sustainably manage the state’s rich natural heritage.
The launch ceremony, held at Imperial Hotel Kuching, was officiated by The Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Premier of Sarawak. This landmark policy celebrates Sarawak’s extraordinary biodiversity while taking concrete steps to ensure its protection for future generations.
Sarawak is the first state in Malaysia to adopt a dual-framework strategy focusing on biodiversity mainstreaming and a whole-of-government approach, reaffirming its commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible natural resource governance.
The event was graced by the presence of several key dignitaries including The Honourable Datuk Amar Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian, The Honourable Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, The Honourable Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Abu Bakar bin Marzuki, The Honourable Datuk Haji Len Talif Salleh, Yang Berbahagia Datu Haji Abdullah bin Julaihi, and Mr. Edward Vrkic.
